Brief break in action - Preparing for Riverside

There will be a skirmish at Riverside, but the TC2M modded map isn't ready yet.  I have all of the buildings, roads, creeks and the river placed.  I still have to place the woods, creek beds, fields, orchards and gardens and then I can finish it up and get ready to run the skirmish. It should run on Friday or Saturday.  We are currently on July 7th, 1861. Turn 1 runs until July 8th.

Showdown at Strawderman - July 7th

Fresh off a victory at Hogbin's Store on July 6th, a Confederate cavalry battalion pursued retreating Federal infantry to Strawderman on July 7th. The cavalry met the infantry from the previous day, joined by another battalion of infantry. As the cavalry approached the village of Strawderman and engaged, the infantry left the cover of an orchard to close in and fire with their smoothbore muskets. The other Federal battalion then advanced and opened on the Confederate flank, forcing the Rebel cavalrymen to withdraw to Hogbin's Store.

Clash of Sabers at Lebanon - July 7th

A battalion of Federal cavalry advanced on  Lebanon from the north and was met by a Confederate cavalry battalion deployed in an apple orchard on the north side of the village. The Federals closed in and engaged, but were soon surprised as the Confederates mounted up and charged out of the orchard. With cavalry having so far taken a restrained approach, this was the first melee of the campaign.
