Simulation History

The Grand Campaign comes from a long line of Take Command 2nd Manassas Command (TC2M) simulations. They started as a means to have multiple players using the TC2M game that was a single player platform. The Scourge of War game was developed with multiplayer capability, but some of us still enjoy the TC2M command simulation format, which has expanded from single battles to large campaigns.

Take Command 2nd Manassas was developed by Madminute games over 10 years ago. It is still a great game that is available on Steam, but it has been eclipsed by Scourge of War.

The Grand Campaign traces its roots back to a number of campaign simulations, which include THE WAR IN ARKANSAS (WIA) series. There were several simulations using fictional western armies in the WIA series.

After WIA there were a number of simulations that did not use a blog, followed by three simulations that were loosely based on the Romney Campaign of January 1862. The Winter War Simulations used historical orders of battle and maps, but allowed players to make their own decisions on the conduct of the campaign. The blog also was used to hold maps for the subsequent South Branch Campaign (SBC) and North Branch simulations, which were completely fictional. The Grand Campaign directly builds on the campaign theater from the previous simulations, but adds some new twists to the campaign methodology.
