All Reports Out

Players have received their Turn 5 Reports and are reviewing them before issuing orders for Turn 6. Turn 6 will start on August 9, 1861 and continue through August 16, 1861 (7 days of campaigning).

During Turn 5, the Union District of the Ohio was able to capture the minor objectives of Newport and Clinton. Newport was taken on the second attempt during the turn, after having been re-enforced with additional men. Union forces failed,  however, in an attempt to capture Centerville.

Confederates attempted to re-take Newport, but failed. Confederates did, however, re-occupy the major objectives of Burlington and Madison. Any major crisis from the loss of these rail road depots was averted and relegated to a minor inconvenience until any damage was repaired.

Some new units were seen on the battlefield. Confederates picked up prisoners from the 4th Kentucky Cavalry and 1st Illinois Infantry, which entered the field on August 1st. Union forces at Newport picked up prisoners from the 1st Mississippi Infantry, also new on the field.

The "western sector" (roughly west of the Indian Rock / Cedar Grove / Union Mills Roads) had split outcomes during Turn 5. The Union took Newport, but the Confederates took the bridge at Orr Tavern.

Federal forces made advances in the center sector ((roughly west of the Indian Rock / Cedar Grove / Union Mills Roads to the North Branch River) by taking Cedar Grove, Clinton, Strawderman and Newtown. Between the South Branch and North Branch Rivers (Sagarville, Kingston, Mt. Vernon, etc.) all was quiet and there was no contact.

Confederates firmly hold the eastern sector (east of the North Branch River), having turned back probes at Arlington and Rowland Mills and repulsed the attempt on Centerville.

No orders have been received yet for Turn 6. Let's see what will happen next....
