Terms of Formal Exchange of Paroled Prisoners Agreed Upon
Two regimental field officers were exchanged in July and returned to their regiments, while other paroled prisoners moved to parole camps in their established area. After negotiation, the two sides have formally agreed to the exchange of 7 officers and 201 men. These officers and men will not join their regiments until the afternoon of August 31st, 1861. They will not participate in the campaigning during the month of August, but will be listed as present for duty on the August returns.
