Turn 5: The First Two Days

There were some interesting developments during the first two days of Turn 5. Union forces made their usual probes against Arlington and Rowland Mills, but this time they were able to take Centerville, a minor campaign objective.  They also moved against Kingston, but were turned back.

In the center sector, The Confederates started a large, two-pronged advance out of Sagarville. Having recovered from their loss of Madison and Burlington in the previous turn, the Confederates massed infantry against Newtown and took it, and also started a push with a separate column against Marion, taking that town as well (also a minor campaign objective) via Mt. Zion Church.

Federals pushed southward toward the West Fork River, taking Twin Fords, but withdrawing northward after a meeting engagement Indian Rock Manor. A Union cavalry probe west to Lebanon encountered a guarded ordnance train, but was turned back in a small action.

Another item of note during the beginning of Turn 5 is the lack of action in the western sector. There was no fighting at either Newport or Orr Tavern. These have otherwise been hot beds of cavalry action through the campaign so far.
